With this privacy policy, we inform you as a user* about the nature, scope and purpose of the processing of personal data for the website of Mothers In Science. In so far as personal data is collected, processed and stored through the use of this website, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. This applies in particular to the signing of our Open Letter “Global Call to Action for Mothers in Science”.

We would like to point out that data transmission on the internet (e.g. when communicating by email) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Your data is collected when you provide it to us. This may be data that you enter in a contact form, for example. Other data is collected automatically by our IT systems when you visit the website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. internet browser, operating system or time of page view). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter this website.

Some of the data is collected to ensure error-free provision of the website. Other data may be used to analyse your user behaviour.

According to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to free information about your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR) and, if applicable, the right to correction (Art. 16 GDPR), blocking or deletion of your data stored by us (Art. 17 GDPR) and a right to restrict the processing of personal data (Art. 18 GDPR). III. Transfer of data to a third country or an international organisation

IV. Privacy policy for signing our Open Letter

1. Collection of personal data (GDPR Art. 6 (1) b))
Personal data will only be collected if you provide this information to the Mothers In Science initiative in the context of signing our Open Letter. Co-signing is only possible if you confirm that you have read and taken note of this privacy policy and expressly consent to the processing and publication of personal data in accordance with this privacy policy.

The following personal data will be collected as part of the submission or co-signing process: Name, email address, profession/title, organisation/institution, country.

Publicly displayed: Name, profession/title, organisation/institution, country.

2. Use and transmission of personal data
The data collected will only be used for the purpose of further processing our Open Letter. This may include sending documents by post or by email. Your personal data will only be stored, processed, passed on or otherwise transmitted to third parties in the context of processing our Open Letter.

3. Deletion
The personal data of the signatories will be deleted in the event of the dissolution of the MothersInScience initiative or if the original aims of our Open Letter no longer apply.

V. Contact forms for newsletters and information material
When requesting information material or subscribing to newsletters, you will be asked to enter personal data. We need this information to process your respective request. The provision of this data is voluntary.

We will only use the personal information you enter for the purpose you have requested and only within the MothersInScience initiative and the service providers commissioned with the respective service. It will not be passed on to third parties for other purposes.

VI. Links to social networks & web hosting
Our website also contains links to so-called social networks. Only when you click on these links does an exchange of data take place between you as a user and the social network. We expressly point out to the user that this data exchange can be assigned to your possibly existing user account with these social networks, namely Instagram and Twitter.

Our hosting provider, collects on the basis of our legitimate interests within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. DSGVO, collects data about each access to the server on which this service is located (so-called server log files). The access data includes the name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user's operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page) and the requesting IP address. The IP address of all visitors is recorded to enable error tracking. No personal analysis is carried out.

Log file information is stored for security reasons (e.g. for the clarification of abuse or fraud) for a maximum of 30 days and then deleted. Data whose further storage is required for evidentiary purposes is exempt from deletion until the respective incident has been finally clarified.

We hereby expressly object to the use of our contact data, published within the scope of the imprint obligation, by third parties for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertising and information material.
